American opera star, Frederica Von Stade, known by her childhood nickname "Flicka," celebrates the holiday season with the music of Christmas. She rediscovers the picture postcard Alpine village of St. Wolfgang, where she visited as a child, for a week of Christmas activities with 2 charming children and the townspeople. Joined by popular recording artist Melba Moore, conductor Julius Rudel, and Broadway's Rex Smith, Von Stade and company perform more than 18 carols, including such favorites as "O Tannenbaum" and "Deck The Halls," highlighted by an original music-video style version of "The Twelve Days Of Christmas." FREDERICA VON STADE is "one of the most admired and successful of young American singers," wrote Newsweek magazine. She made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1970 and has sung in every major opera house in Europe and the United States; and made over 30 recordings."One of the loveliest of lyric mezzos.(her voice is) pure and shining and filled with an exquisite poignance." -Newsweek Magazine
